Before April 2012, one could easily buy his ranking position. A little bit of these and a little bit of those links, and you could manage ranking on the first search engine results page. Well, that time is long gone. The Google Penguin Spam Filter is now part of Google’s Core Algorithm and works in real time. The first step once you start an search engine optimization (SEO) project is to find out how many keywords you expect to use for all your pages. The number of keywords needed for an organic SEO project depends on the business and what words would be beneficial to provide the site with acceptable traffic. Heading tags are tags that are used for the creations of headings. The most important tag is the h1 heading tag, and will usually be the title of a post. Heading tags have a top-down hierarchy from h1 to h6. What value do headings have for SEO? Do you review and analyze your competitor’s website? You should. I do. I always keep an eye on the business across the street, or in my case, across the internet.
When you’re spending good money on SEO, it’s common to obsess over your keyword rankings. Links from and to
an article help boost its ranking. When you submit, check the ways you can enrich your article; linking to different websites and databases is always a good idea. If you are using some paid services to get links to your site, you are likely going to be penalized by Google Penguin’s algo. Always use no follow if you have linked your site with another site which is not of your niche. Google will be very careful and can take a step of getting you deindexed if he feels anything fishy. Google does not wants its search results to suffer and hence takes this kind of steps.
Google is doing a better job at sending long-tail traffic to more meaningful and relevant pages than it used to
Today, semantic search has evolved even more, and search engines are better than ever at understanding query context and the relationships between words. Users don’t like to
wait, and we are becoming more and more accustomed to the fast load times, which means your site will be left in the dust when a user must wait. If over time your site has acquired an average of 5 links per day, and then the links suddenly start to come in at a rate of 10 per day, that could be seen as a positive ranking signal. On the other hand, if the rate of new links drops to two per day, that could be a signal that your site has become less relevant. Google prefers fresh content. An older page that’s regularly updated may outperform a newer page.
You need a clear strategy on your most profitable keywords
When people search for things that match up with what your website offers, the higher your site is on the SERP (search engine result page), the more traffic you will receive. An authority website doesn’t necessarily have to be one of the usual big publishers. If you’re a niche website or blog with high quality, relevant content, you can be as highly regarded as any other source. Google uses over 200 ranking factors, and some of the most powerful ranking factors involve backlinks. Gaz Hall
, an SEO Expert from the UK, said: "How recently your webpage was published is also a ranking signal – but different types of searches have different freshness needs, such as searches for recent events, hot topics, and regularly recurring events.2"
One or more methods?
If your target is international try to get links from sites hosted in as many different countries as possible. The same is true if you target local audiences, get as many links from sites hosted in the country you target. Google's Penguin algorithm is
designed to combat spam links. So, first of all, as Marie Haynes tells us, if you're sure you weren't involved in unnatural link building, most probably Penguin is not your problem. There are as many ways to build links as there are types of website. Thanks to Google’s crack-down on creating spam links, many old tactics no longer work. Now much of link-building is good old-fashioned marketing – promotion and PR. As you know, back in the day we could build 10,000 forum profile links with exact match anchor text and rank in a few days. Unfortunately many SEOs have not changed their game to keep up with Google changes. Now 80% of your links should be brand/URL links, 10% KW links, and the other 10% long tail/nonsense KWs. Also, if you're just starting out, build less than 50 links a day.
